250 Days for 250 Years is a year-long journey celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, marking one day for every year of the country’s history.
Over the course of 250 days, our education program will deliver a rich mix of content and experiences to engage Americans of all ages. Through our mobile app, participants can access daily educational videos and essays, participate in games, daily challenges, and community events — all crafted to explore and celebrate the nation’s history, founding principles, and enduring values.
In addition, the 250 for 250 book will capture the voices, virtues, and defining moments of American history, providing a lasting resource for learning and inspiration. From schools to communities to families, 250 for 250 aims to create moments of discovery and connection across the country, turning a historic milestone into a living celebration.
250 Days for 250 Years honors our past, celebrates our present, and inspires our future.
The 250 mobile app is a vast digital museum which serves as the central hub for everyone to join our initiatives — free to download for all Americans. It’s where celebration, learning, and civic action come together.
We’re taking you on a 250-day journey through American history; one day for each year since 1776. Each day the app unlocks educational content and activities rooted in that year’s events, people, and significance, giving users a simple, meaningful way to explore our shared past and reflect on how it shapes our present.
Each day begins with a short, filmed vignette featuring Kelsey Grammer, who guides viewers back to the year in focus and highlights its defining stories, lessons, values, and civic responsibilities. These videos provide context, human perspective, and a clear starting point for deeper learning.
Two daily essays accompany the video: one that dives into a notable historical event from that year, and a second that explores a principle theme central to the American spirit — life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and other enduring ideals — showing how those ideas have evolved and why they matter today.
Users can test their civics knowledge with daily quizzes and represent their state in friendly nationwide competitions, earning badges and recognition as they learn.
Beyond history and trivia, the app encourages personal and community growth: guided prompts for family conversations, curated opportunities to volunteer, and challenges designed to help users turn learning into action.
Our app allows you to live the American story, one day at a time.
The 250 days for 250 years book delivers an accessible journey through 250 years of American history, organized around the defining moments from each year that shaped our nation. From foundational events to cultural shifts, scientific advances, social movements, and everyday acts of citizenship, each entry provides insight into how the United States has developed over time.
By celebrating the achievements of the people who built the country—and by explaining the context behind its major turning points—the book serves as an essential guide for anyone seeking to understand the American experience.
The book is ideal for homes, classrooms, and public institutions alike, where it can inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and create opportunities for connection and reflection.
Our historical video series will consist of 250 emotionally resonant, three-minute educational videos filmed across the nation and designed for schools, homes, libraries, and digital audiences.
Kelsey Grammer will guide us through 250 years of American history, with each daily video focusing on a single year. Structured like a historical bulletin, each episode highlights the most significant events, influential figures, and defining moments from that year, offering viewers a clear and engaging snapshot in just 3 minutes.
The series will be tailored for distribution on the national app as well as daily use in classrooms.
Delivered daily through our national app, the series will serve as a catalyst for learning, reflection, and participation from all Americans across the country.
Our Civic Passport initiative is designed to engage and motivate individuals to actively participate in civic and educational activities. By tracking each user’s involvement in our digital curriculum, volunteer efforts, and visits to museums and libraries, the program creates a comprehensive record of engagement. Users earn points and badges for completing activities, offering tangible recognition for their efforts and encouraging continued participation.
Beyond tracking, the Civic Passport transforms engagement into reward. Points and badges can lead to prizes, creating a system that not only incentivizes learning and volunteering but also fosters a deeper connection to local cultural institutions. By motivating users to explore their communities and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America, the initiative combines education, service, and civic pride into a single, interactive experience.
